The secret’s out: we can finally share a landmark collaboration that bridges our storied past with a promising future. Introducing the Airain Type 20 EHRA 3 – a watch that marks a significant milestone for our brand, and also honours the distinguished legacy of the French Army Aviation (ALAT) squadron EHRA 3.

Crafted in close partnership with the Escadrille d’Hélicoptères de Reconnaissance et d’Attaque (EHRA) n°3, the third Reconnaissance and Attack Helicopter Squadron of the French Army Aviation (ALAT), we have created a truly unique timepiece that honours EHRA 3’s signature fonts and colours. 

Its bold black dial features the iconic orange 3/3 SQN logo and vibrant orange accents around the subdials and minuterie ring, to complement its stainless steel case. Engraved on the back are the pilots’ individual flight license number, to further personalise the pieces. At its heart beats the caliber AM2 flyback chronograph movement, a testament to unwavering commitment to precision.

Established on 1 July 1968, the EHRA 3 Helicopter Squadron is the most battle-hardened unit in the French Army Light Aviation (ALAT) service. Initially, the pilots of EHRA 3 operated Alouette III helicopters equipped with SS-11 anti-tank missiles, and the squadron was known as the Attack Helicopter Squadron, symbolised by a tiger’s head. From its inception, the primary missions of the squadron have been reconnaissance and attack.

In 1977, the squadron was renamed the Anti-tank Helicopter Squadron, and took on a different logo. By 1999, the squadron upgraded to SA 342 Gazelle helicopters, replacing the older Alouette models. These new helicopters, armed with HOT missiles, feature advanced optical and thermal cameras. Subsequently, the squadron reverted to its original name, the Attack Helicopter Squadron, and was officially christened “The Felines.” The tiger’s head returned as their logo

Since the revival of Airain in 2020, we’ve successfully completed one of our most important missions: reconquering our position around the wrists of ALAT’s pilots. Founded on 1 July 1968, the squadron marked its 55th anniversary last year. Now, the secret is finally out: Airain has celebrated this milestone by issuing 25 personalised Airain Type 20 EHRA 3 watches.

This release honours a historic milestone, but also heralds the beginning of a new era. One of exclusive collaborations with brands and creators that share our commitment to horological excellence and historically significant watches.
